Reef - Sandy Bay has a coral rubble beach with fringing reef along the beach.

Fishing - Yellow Zone, limited fishing permitted at Chance Bay (please see GBRMPA zoning maps)

Camping - good open camping area with a long sandy beach, providing an excellent opportunity for beachcombing. Great for keen bushwalkers, the bay is well connected to the rest of the island by walking tracks. The camp ground can take up to 36 people. 

Camping Permits are required to be booked in advance. No Open Fires are allowed within National Parks

Walking Trails - 

Spion Kop - Offering spectacular views, this track traverses rainforest, grassland and open eucalypt fores to lookouts over the resort and Whitsunday Passage. This track also passes an ancient Ngaro stone quarry, an area of shattered rock high on the hillside and spilling toward the sea. The track is relatively flat and easy, and generally smooth. 

Mount Jeffreys -  If seeking incredible views, this track is a must. It winds up a gradual slope to South Molle Island's highest point, Mount Jeffreys. Once there, you will enjoy a sensational 360° view of the Whitsunday islands and mainland.The track has a moderate climb, but is generally easy and smooth.

Lamond Hill - Climbing through open eucalypt forest to Lamond Hill, this track overlooks the resort with a view to distant mainland ranges. The track is relatively easy with a generally smooth surface, however includes some moderate climbs and one switch-back turn towards the end of the climb. Note: one set of stairs near the water tanks.

Balancing Rock - Perched in eucalypt forest, Balancing Rock provides views across the parchwork of South Molle's vegetation communities. Take care when climbing the rock; traversing up it's rocky crevices can be difficult and dangerous, particularly when wet.

Mountain Bike Trails - 

Spion Kop - Offering spectacular views, this track traverses rainforest, grassland and open eucalypt fores to lookouts over the resort and Whitsunday Passage. Note: the track is 'walkers only' from the set of stairs leading to Spion Kop.
